JULIARTE - Salone del Mobile 2026

I discovered JULIARTE by pure chance.

During a break from the hectic pace of the Salone del Mobile.

You won’t believe it, but I was eating an apple… when I spotted a sculpture of a huge, colorful apple in the distance, featuring designs reminiscent of Picasso’s style (and indeed they were) topped with something that looked like icing in wonderful shades of blue and turquoise.

The rest is history, as the saying goes.

Curiosity got the better of me.

But I must add that blue, in all its shades, and turquoise are among my favorite colors.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank them for their kindness and courtesy.

JULIARTE is a Portuguese family business founded in 1978 by Júlio and Francelina Leitão.

What started as a small decoration workshop grew into one of the best-known producers of contemporary decorative sculptures on the European market. The company designs and produces all sculptures in-house, giving each collection a recognisable Juliarte signature: sleekly designed, finished in bold colours and often featuring a playful reference to the art world.

JULIARTE supplies shops and galleries in more than thirty countries. The sculptures are produced in Portugal from high-quality stone powder and fiber glass and finished by hand.

JULIARTE sculptures are recognisable by several recurring elements:

-High-gloss finish: most sculptures have a lacquered, glossy surface that enhances the use of colour. Some versions feature a silver or bronze-coloured coating;

-Pop art references: many designs explicitly reference pop art. Think of balloon dogs in the tradition of Jeff Koons, but with JULIARTE's own designs such as diamond patterns, flowers or cityscapes.

-Art & nods: collections like “Picasso” and “Miro” translate the visual language of these painters into three-dimensional objects a cat with cubist planes or a dog with abstract colour blocks.

-Animal forms as canvas: JULIARTE uses recognisable animal shapes — dogs, cats, bulldogs — as carriers for decorative patterns. The animal is not the subject, but the canvas.
