SPAZIO DAVIDE CAMPARI
From Factory to Events Location: the History of Spazio Davide Campari
History
SPAZIO DAVIDE CAMPARI is located within the Headquarters of the Campari company in Sesto San Giovanni, built in 2009 by the architect Mario Botta in collaboration with the architect Giancarlo Marzorati. An example of contemporary architecture and the redevelopment of former industrial areas in a project leading to the rediscovery of the identity of the community of Sesto and the historical memory of the Campari company, launching an ideal bridge between the past and the future.
SPAZIO DAVIDE CAMPARI is located where the manufacturing plant designed by the architect Luigi Perrone was built by Davide Campari in the early 1900s.
In the twenty-first century, the Campari production is relocated to Novi Ligure in Piedmont, to meet the changing requirements of the manufacturing process and the urban context in which the property is located.
The architect Mario Botta begins the renovation of the entire building.
The project involves the preservation of the original facade of the building, and its integration with the new complex. The restoration is completed a year later, in 2010, together with the works carried out in the park, by the architect Giancarlo Marzorati. The Campari park becomes an important natural environment, respectful of the historical ancient garden of the Casa Alta. Indeed, it is a public area of great value for all the inhabitants.
Today, the administrative offices of the Campari company are located in the new complex. It also includes a lobby that can host different types of events throughout the year and a museum that traces the history of Campari through some of its most famous advertising campaigns: the Galleria Campari, part of the industrial heritage site for which Sesto San Giovanni is seeking UNESCO recognition. In addition, it is also the site of Villa Campari, a recently renovated eighteenth century villa called villa Casa Alta, where the Villa Campari Restaurant and the Campari Academy are located.
Its meticulous focus on environmental impact and the optimization of operating costs is a great source of pride for the Campari Group. Architectural solutions have been adopted and innovative plant installed with a view to obtaining the high energy savings that have allowed the structure to achieve the B Class Building System.
Once again, after 1904, Campari has made innovation, in technical and architectural fields one of its strengths.
