CARLA TOLOMEO (Formitalia)

 - Gabriella Ruggieri & partners
As we have already said, during the Milano Design Week, we took our friend Maria Elena Savini, designer of the LussoMediterraneo brand, to visit the Formitalia Luxury Group stand at Salone del Mobile, taking advantage of the exquisite kindness and welcome of our friend Bruno Baglivo, art curator for “MIRABILI Arte d'Abitare”. (The original and brilliant idea of MIRABILI, born in 1986 from an idea of Sergio Cammilli, is now carried on by the brothers David and Gianni Overi of Formitalia Luxury Group who in 2002 bought the brand).
For those who do not know, the art curator is the one who takes care of the entire organization of the art exhibition within cultural centers, museums, foundations, galleries, trade fairs such as the Salone del Mobile. It takes care of contacting the artists, choosing the works, set up the space where the exhibition will be held. It also finds the necessary funding for the realization of the events and manages the promotional campaigns. Why did I want to emphasize this? Because there are ingredients (in my opinion) that it is not obvious to find in this difficult profession: education, courtesy, kindness and not making promises that cannot be kept. Here are the peculiarities of Bruno Baglivo. Am I biased? Yes, I know. But those who know me know that I also know how to shut up.

In this case, attention has fallen on the artist Carla Tolomeo, of whom we have already had the opportunity to talk (here) who designed the new collection produced by Formitalia.
Below you will find a brief description and in the Gallery the photos that Vaifro Minoretti took for us, I hope you like them.

The Sofa Becomes a Subject of Art

The dreamlike fantasies of artist Carla Tolomeo and an explosion of colours inspired by the wonders of nature give shape to the new Formitalia collection.
On the occasion of the Salone del Mobile 2023, the new Formitalia seats born from the collaboration with designer Carla Tolomeo transform armchairs, sofas and benches into art subjects immersed in colour, an invitation to "sit on a dream".

Essential forms and a careful choice of materials and finishes: in the new Formitalia seating collections, satin-finished metals, leathers and fabrics printed with innovative techniques are combined with simple geometries and a linear design.

In the Moon collection, dreamlike patterns by designer Carla Tolomeo peep out on the upholstery of armchairs, benches and sofas, recalling an island paradise where one can indulge in relaxation and imagination.

Parrots is the Formitalia seating collection where colours and patterns evoke the wonders of tropical nature. Thanks to the innovative technique of printing on leather, the cream-coloured Nobu leather seats are completed with armrests decorated with the "Parrots" pattern. (Formitalia press release)
